#MEDIACENTER VISTA UPGRADE#

After the upgrade I had a listing for 53 stations, which translated into about 20 stations which had strong enough signal and were in English. Prior to the upgrade I had a listing for 24 stations which translated to about 14 stations which had strong enough signal and were in English. It also feels more responsive than the previous version did especially when accessing it via the new UI on an Xbox 360.Дў) More channels!?! I started receiving additional channels on my antenna after the installation on Windows 8 Media Center. So what are the benefits that IвЂ™m seeing after upgrading?ДЎ) New look and feel: The new UI is more intuitive and visually appealing as shown below.

The Operations System installation went without issue, Media Center installed with no challenges, and my hardware all worked with no additional required driver downloads which was better than I had hoped for.

There may be additional capabilities that IвЂ™m not listing, this blog post is focused on what I see as useful as an end-user of the product on a daily basis.

This blog post is discussing what I see as new and relevant since the Windows Vista version of Media Center.

I have not used the Windows 7 Media Center so I am not differentiating whatвЂ™s new between Windows 7 and Windows 8 in terms of Media Center.

The following are my assumptions related to this blog post: I decided that if I was going to reinstall it was time to upgrade to Windows 8 Media Center and see what new stuff was out there now. Last week I had that dreaded moment when I tried to use the Media PC and it was dead as a doornail due to the loss of the hard drive which runs the Operating System (it could have been much worse if it was one of my media drives so IвЂ™m not complaining). I even upgraded to an attic installed antenna a while back to get additional tv stations via antenna (discussed here).

I am paying for FULL protection of my systems and am NOT getting what I paid for.For years now IвЂ™ve been running a Media Center on Windows Vista and itвЂ™s been working like a champ. As it stands, when my license expires I will permanaently uninstall Panda and look for an alternative protection package. So, if anyone has managed to resolve this issue, I would appreciate any guidance. They were unable to tell me if Panda creates an installation error log that I could look at or send to them so that we could identify the specific conflict.

The only way to get any level of protection is to perform a вЂњCustomвЂќ install and NOT install the firewall, which means I have to depend on the Vista Firewall. Once I activated Panda, the Firewall error began and has persisted after several uninstalls, re-installs, and countless restarts. Each step was followed with compter restarts to ensure removals before Panda was activated. Before installation I removed Norton 360 (which was never activated) through both Control panel and using SymantecвЂ™s Norton Removal Tool, disabled Windows Defender and Firewall. I also have a new computer with Vista Home Premium to which IвЂ™ve loaded Panda AV+FW 2008 v7.01.00. The Status вЂ“ Security of Panda alerts me of errors in protection against known threats, firewall protection and the protection level of internet. IвЂ™ve also run the Norton Removal Tool on my computer to remove hidden Norton or Symantec values from the registry. I uninstalled and installed Panda several times вЂ“ also turning off Windows Firewall and Defender вЂ“ but the same problem occurs every time. My Panda does not work, it sends me a message in every 5 minutes вЂњPanda IS 2008 was unable to load file protectionвЂќ. I could only restart the op.system with the F8 botton, according to the last proper configuration. The Vista operation system was unable to load and the screen was black, the laptop was frozen. When the installation completed I clicked on вЂњRestartвЂќ but my laptop did not restart. I restarted the computer, downloaded and installed the latest version of Panda IS 2008. I bought a laptop with Vista Home Premium, and with preinstalled Norton IS for 3-month trial. I purchased titanium 2007 with 3 keysвЂ¦ whatвЂ™s the problem here?
